Download Joe’s new mobile app. (It’s free, of course.)

Here’s what we mean by brilliant: You choose the date, time and number of people for your next visit to Joe’s, and the app makes your reservation. While you’re here, it tracks your itemized total in real time. When you’re ready to go, it divvies up the bill with the rest of your party and pays it without waiting for the check. Or if you’re getting takeout, it lets you browse the menu, order, and it pays when you pick up. So what’s left for you to do? Eat, drink and enjoy.

Okay, so how does it know who ordered what? How can it allow for a birthday-guest’s food to be added to one payer or split between 2 or more payers? How does it know how much each payer wants to tip (if anything 8-( )?

    Just how smart is it?

I haven’t checked out the nyaj’s app yet, but there is a free app called Plates that will do that for you. Everyone can split the bill, or assign each item to the particular person. It even lets you decide the tip and adds to each person in the party. Worth looking into.

    Jessica,

    Thanks for the tip!

Can you only add certain CC to the app? My Citizens Bank Card is my preferred payment method in Apple Pay, but the app says I have insufficient funds which is definitely not the case.

I installed the app on an Android phone (Galaxy S5) and cannot complete entering a credit card. I can enter the credit card number, but cannot enter the expiration date.

  • Alan

Figured out how to enter the credit card number. After entering the number, you then just keep typing – add the month year and then the code. Not obvious since the credit card number appears and it would then appear that you are supposed to tap expiration date to enter.

    Hi Scott,

The app will allow Apple Pay, or the addition of a credit card, or both – if there is an issue using Apple Pay, best thing is to check the settings inside Apple Pay, so it allows the app.

Also have the app on an Android phone and can’t seem to get it set up. It won’t let me enter personal or payment information. Tapping on Personal Information in the My Account menu makes the “please wait” circle go for half a second or so, then it stops and that’s it. Doing the same for Payment Methods gives me a dialogue box saying “Unfortunately, NYAJ has stopped” with the options of Report and OK. Tapping OK takes me back to the main screen.

Problem solved. I see this is all awaiting moderation–I will not be offended if the moderator decides it should not be posted.
