The holidays are a time for warm blankets, family and friend gatherings, & hot chocolate.

Here is a recipe for a tasty and “not so average” twist to hot chocolate, making any gathering that much warmer. We invite you to try this delicious Tequila Mint Holiday Hot Chocolate recipe that serves for four.

What You’ll Need:

¼ cup of any cocoa powder of your choice

1 tablespoon granulated sugar

3 cups of milk of choice

Kosher salt – just a pinch

3 to 4 ounces of chocolate chips (preferably milk chocolate)

3 to 4 ounces of bittersweet chocolate chips (optional)

1 to 2 ounces of peppermint schnapps

4 ounces of Patron Silver Tequila (or any silver tequila of choice)

1 can of Whipped Cream

Handful of small marshmallows (about 5 pieces)

4 Mint Leaves

4 Gingerbread cookies (optional)

Getting Started:

To get started first combine cocoa powder, sugar, and salt in a saucepan then stir gently. Turn heat up to a medium temperature then add milk of choice, and both chocolate chips to saucepan. Continue to stir until all chocolate is melted. While chocolate is melting, in coffee glasses of choice add marshmallows to bottom of glass. Take saucepan off the heat and add tequila and peppermint schnapps to saucepan—continue to whisk. Once mixed, pour hot chocolate into coffee glasses over the marshmallows. Take your can of whipped cream and garnish with a dollop of whip cream, one mint leaf per glass, and place gingerbread cookie onto whipped cream. If you are feeling extra into the holiday spirit, sprinkle a dash of nutmeg onto whipped cream before placing cookie on top. Then enjoy with loved ones!
