Twenty-five years ago, Stephen Silverstein decided to open a restaurant that would combine great food and great service. Soon after, Dartmouth, Massachusetts became the home of the very first Not Your Average Joe’s on July 4, 1994.

Three years later, after the success of Not Your Average Joe’s Dartmouth location, Stephen Silverstein opened up two additional restaurants in Massachusetts one year apart. After successfully operating with three locations, Not Your Average Joe’s won the Concepts of Tomorrow Award from Hospitality Magazine. Following the win, the fourth restaurant opened in Randolph, Massachusetts.

In the next coming years, Not Your Average Joe’s continued to expand throughout Massachusetts with a total of 11 restaurant locations. With the success followed two more awards; such as the Hot Concept Award from Nation’s Restaurant News, and the Boston Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Award.

The next few years Not Your Average Joe’s began to make its way outside of Massachusetts and into nearby states such as Virginia and Maryland. CEO and Founder Stephen Silverstein was honored by Ernst & Young as a finalist for Entrepreneur of the Year designation. In the next year Not Your Average Joe’s opened in Warwick, Rhode Island.

With over two decades in the industry, Stephen Silverstein has decided to go back to his roots and stepped down from the day to day operations. Stephen still continues to serve on the board of directors and owns the original Dartmouth location. The board of directors welcomed Peter D’Amelio as the company’s new CEO on March 27, 2018. Peter is an industry veteran with prior CEO experience and has had great success. Chairman and CEO, Peter D’Amelio continues to develop Stephen’s vision and to take Not Your Average Joe’s to the next phase of growth.

“Join us in celebrating 25 years of great food and great service.“
